GreenTowers Hinckley Club for Young People is a charitable organisation which provides a range of stimulating activities at its dedicated facilities in Hinckley. They offer a number of youth sessions each week including football and basketball, and operate as a youth club providing pool tables and playstations in a safe environment for local youngsters. The Club also provides popular climbing and bouldering activities, and its Climbing Wall is accessible to local schools and clubs.
With funding from William Colton Youth Sport Fund, GreenTowers Hinckley Club for Young People was able to buy new climbing equipment for its popular Climbing Wall activities including essential helmets, harnesses, carabiners and slings. The popular climbing and bouldering sessions they run have already helped many young people to develop new climbing and social skills and grow their confidence. Ten of these have gone on to complete a Young Rope Manager qualification, which has improved their employment prospects.
Over the three year expected life of the new equipment, the Club will be able to help some three thousand young people as above, while reducing anti-social behaviour and street gang culture in the local area among teenagers. Meadow View Farm School for children with learning or behavioural needs are also a regular visitor.
