The Jamie Lewis Fund for Homelessness, managed by Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, has supported Action Homeless and The Bridge in Leicester. This year the fund has given £500 to each charity.
The fund is one of the personally named local giving funds managed under the Community Foundation, whose job is to enable people to give to local needs in Leicestershire and Rutland.
Jamie Lewis Fund for Homelessness is an invested fund that releases income every year to charities tackling homelessness in Leicester. The city firm is an award-winning property developer and student landlord run by Jamie and Lynn Lewis.
Action Homeless is a charity based in Leicestershire dedicated to tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness. They help people affected by issues of homelessness and provide supported accommodation and resettlement services which seek to enable people who are homeless to rebuild their live
Action Homeless also undertake preventative work in the community to stop homelessness from occurring, especially amongst groups of people who are particularly at risk.

The Bridge in Leicester provides a place to go, companionship, advice, advocacy and hot food for homeless and at risk people. They are open all year round and also provide a winter night shelter. On Christmas day, in conjunction with The Case Restaurant in Leicester, The Bridge also provide a free Christmas dinner for approximately 80 homeless and vulnerable people.
The support from Jamie Lewis will be used specifically as part of their ongoing support and mentor service which enables users to move on in their lives by providing ad hoc items such as documentary ID, household items and clothing for interviews.
