The Rutland High Sheriff’s Fund works to improve the quality of life for the Rutland community and residents.
The Fund is administered by the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, who will distribute all contributions raised and monitor grants awarded. The Community Foundation claims Gift Aid on all eligible donations made to the fund and can also match £1 to every £2 given to benefit the Rutland community in future years.
The Rutland High Sheriff’s Fund has four advisors: the current High Sheriff of Rutland, who acts as the Chairman, a past High Sheriff, a High Sheriff in nomination and a lay member.
Alongside Warning Zone, a charity that provides risk awareness training to young people, the fund will benefit a range of small voluntary organisations and charities operating in Rutland.
The fund is particularly interested in supporting groups with an emphasis on young people, volunteers and elderly people suffering from isolation or poverty.
Funds will be raised at High Sheriff social events, from sponsored activities and by direct contributions from donors. All donors to the High Sheriff’s Fund may specify whether their donations should be passed out immediately in grants or whether they should be invested, and matched £1 to every £2 given, for perpetual giving.
Applications for grants will be invited when available funds permit: this will be at least once a year and normally in January. The application process and deadlines will be advertised in the local press and via the Community Foundation’s website and social media.
