A grant from the John Salmon Fund has supported Leicester City of Sanctuary to deliver their NEST (New Evidence Search Team) services, around 15 volunteer caseworkers with experience in academia, law, human rights and other related disciplines that bring valuable experience to casework. Volunteers work in pairs, sometimes threes, an experienced caseworker with a newer volunteer.
The grant is supporting NEST services for one year by contributing to running costs such as volunteer training and room hire, enabling the organisation to arrange meet-ups, training and other events. The social meet-ups are really important so that people feel less isolated by their situation.
