Leicester Charity Link, which supports some of the most vulnerable people in Leicestershire and Rutland, is spending its grant for £2,500 from the Community Foundation’s Coronavirus Support Fund.
As well as dealing with an increased need for emergency support for vulnerable elderly people, those with underlying health issues, people who have lost jobs or are facing domestic violence, Charity Link is also responding rapidly to the emergency evacuation of hostels. The grant from the Coronavirus Support Fund will help people moving from hostels to a tenancy by supplying essential household items, like bedding and a kettle. This will free up beds in hostels and refuges for the street homeless, who are unable to self-isolate.
Sue McEniff from Charity Link said: “A huge thank you for the donation which is helping us to continue our vital work as we face more demand than ever. We are so grateful for this, which helps us to help those who need us at this difficult time.”
