East Midlands Chamber have awarded nearly £2,500 to the first charities chosen to benefit from the East Midlands Chamber Fund, which is managed by Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation.
Chamber President Geoff Poyzer presented a giant cheque to Ashgate Hospice, Chesterfield, RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire and Rainbow’s Hospice, Loughborough, at the Chamber’s Christmas Lunch last month. Each charity received £821.33.
The Chamber also announced that the next recipients from the fund, who will be awarded cheques at next year’s Christmas lunch will be LOROS, Maggie’s Nottingham and Blythe House Hospice. Over £2,600 has already been raised for them, with additional events undertaken by Chamber staff over the coming year and Gift Aid set to boost the final amounts they receive.
Geoff said: “It gave me great pleasure to present three very worthwhile charities with much-needed donations and also to name three more charities to which the Chamber will donate next year. Charities rely on donations for their survival and whether it is a large or small amount I would encourage businesses to take part in events that help to raise money for them during the year.”
