The Community Foundation has distributed £737,754 in emergency grants to local charities, voluntary and community organisations, groups to supporting people most in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Going directly to local organisations across our city and counties which are delivering vital services to older people, those with medical conditions, those who are isolated, have mental health difficulties or face financial hardship, the 172 grants are a much needed cash boost to aid vital work in our local communities.
The Leicestershire and Rutland Coronavirus Support Fund is made up of money from public donations to the National Emergency Trust that we are delivering locally, as well as our own companies and families who are adding money to help local people. Together, these generous donations have enabled the Community Foundation to provide grants of between £500 and £10,000 to food banks, volunteer groups, food delivery and outreach services.
