The William Colton Youth Sports Fund provided Blaby District Spartans, an inclusive football club for players with pan-disability, with much needed funding to cover the costs of all-weather training pitches for the winter season.
They have run weekly football coaching sessions for players with additional needs, providing much needed support in the area. From the start of the funding, player numbers have increase on average by one player a week.
The grant has meant the club has been able to continue with coaching throughout the winter, which is difficult when pitch hire is costly. Due to the nature of some of their players’ needs, consistency in their sessions is essential, and keeps them engaged and active throughout the year. Winter training is especially important to keep players moving and exercising when the weather isn’t great and can take a toll on their mental health.
“The influx of new players has been amazing and the grant continues to benefit our players’, parents’ and carers’ lives.” Blaby District Spartans Inclusive FC
