Following two years of hard work, St Matthews Big Local has been awarded £1 million over ten years to empower local residents to create positive change in their community. As part of this programme Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) are administering grants to support local projects.
The second round of the grant programme is now open.
About the St Matthews Big Local Grants Programme
Big Local is a national programme run by the Local Trust and funded by Big Lottery.
£50,000 of grants are available to both residents and local groups working to improve the lives of St Matthews residents. Residents and groups will be able to apply for grants of between £100 and £10,000.
VAL will be working with St Matthews Big Local to administer the grants programme.
Grants for individuals
St Matthews residents who are over the age of 18 can apply for up to £500. 16 and 17 year olds can apply for up to £100 to deliver positive activities on the estate.
Grants must be spent to improve the lives of St Matthews residents and must be spent within six months of being awarded.
Grants for voluntary and community groups
Any not for profit group based in St Matthews can apply for a grant.
Groups can apply for up to £4,000 if applying alone. If applying as part of a new partnership groups can apply for up to £10,000.
Grants must be spent helping St Matthews residents within a year of being awarded.
