Coronavirus Emergency Support Fund

The Community Foundation is working hard –  like so many people are –  to help allay some of the hardship caused by the Coronavirus pandemic in our local communities.

We have launched The Leicestershire and Rutland Coronavirus Support Fund for charitable organisations working with those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The grants are made from the National Emergencies Trust money; and some companies and private donors have also added to the fund.

The Coronavirus Support Fund is for:

1. Immediate Emergency Relief

Apply if you are a constituted charitable or community organisation in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland, providing immediate emergency relief to one or more groups of people below:

These grants are our first priority and the team is focused on processing applications as quickly as possible.

NB: Zoom licences are not eligible as part of project budget apart from in exceptional circumstances where it can be clearly demonstrated why a paid version is required to support beneficiaries.

All grant projects must be delivered and fully spent within 3 months.

Grant sizes are as follows:

Tier 1 – between £500 and £5,000

• T1 is aimed at small grassroots charities with an average annual income of below £50,000 (although if your income is above this you can still apply).

Tier 2 – up to £10,000

• T2 is aimed at medium/large charities (annual income £50,000 +) delivering emergency relief on a larger scale (e.g. acting as a ‘hub’ in conjunction with the local district council).
o NB –any national charities would need to be able to demonstrate that they have a local branch. This would include a local bank account, finances, and demonstration of fundraising and delivery in the local area only.

Repeat Applications

Grantees are welcome to reapply for a second grant following successful review of their Interim Monitoring Review and submission of your End of Grant Report. Please note this does not guarantee funding and a second application will still go through the assessment and panel process.

These grants are our first priority and the team is focused on processing applications as quickly as possible.

2. General Coronavirus Support

A smaller part of the fund is made up of donations from local companies and donors to meet important but less immediate needs that have arisen due to the lockdown and the Coronavirus crisis, for example

Grant sizes are between £500 and £5,000 and must be spent within 3 months.

As we are prioritising emergency and immediate relief, it will take longer to review less urgent – though important – applications. Please allow us 4-6 weeks to process.
