Mars Case Study
East Goscote Gunners JFC
Football kits and winter training for juniors
East Goscote Gunners is a Football Club, run by local volunteers, which introduces children aged 6 to 11 to football. A grant of £500 from Mars in the Community was used to purchase new kit for the U11s team.
As well as involving children in physical exercise and promoting healthy, active lifestyles, the club emphasises respect, fair play and working as part of a team. It also benefits the community by giving children positive activities to engage in.
Club Chairman, John Palmer, said; “Without such funding we would struggle to keep the club going.” Although East Goscote Gunners is a thriving club with 8 teams – 2 for girls and 6 mixed – it was struggling to cover the cost of new kits through fundraising alone.
When the club started looking for sponsors Mars was the obvious choice because of the club’s proximity to Melton Mowbray. Residents of East Goscote feel a sense of pride that Mars is supporting their local football team.
The new kit will feature the Mars Petcare logo and the club is looking forward to taking part in publicity alongside members of the Mars Petcare team in Melton.
