Community Leicester Arthritis Self Help (CLASH)
To provide transport to activity sessions
CLASH is a local branch of arthritis care; a friendly self help group for anyone who lives with arthritis or cares for someone with arthritis in Leicestershire. CLASH provides a range of different services for its members including a weekly hydrotherapy session, family play activities and specialist yoga classes.
Funding from the Leicestershire Fund helped those usually unable to access public transport, due to ill health and limited incomes, to attend the group sessions being run by CLASH.
Margaret Green, Fundraiser and Committee Member, said; “Social isolation has been significantly reduced especially in our rural areas where there is very limited public transport. More members are now able to access activities and have formed lasting friendships.”
Since receiving the grant, attendance to the activities has grown hugely and these sessions are now billed as an integral part of what CLASH offers its members.
