It was a proud moment for the Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation team when the outgoing High Sheriff of Rutland, Richard Cole, presented the High Sheriff’s award at our team meeting on Zoom, in recognition of the hard work we put in behind the scenes during the pandemic.
Katy Green, CEO of Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation said, “We are really thrilled and we’re very grateful to Richard for recognising the commitment and hard work that the team has put in over the past challenging year.
It not just about us, of course. It was incredible how people swung into action across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland in the pandemic. Local families, individuals and companies, the National Emergencies Trust, and government funds, all came together via the Community Foundation to support charitable groups doing vital work in our local communities.
We are proud of the work we did to help match people’s generous donations to those working people in need of support, to ensure money was spent well to make a real impact.
Without philanthropic local companies, families and individuals – including Richard – our communities would have experienced even greater hardship this year.”
