About the grants we give

We don’t have one single “pot” of money. We work to attract and manage many grant-giving funds, set up by individuals and families, companies, local or national public sector, national funders and others.  They are all different sizes and have different aims, and open and close at different times. We work to support and inform donors and funders, and most want to make decisions themselves about the grants they give.

There is less public funding available these days, and growing private funding can take time.  Many local, national, and international charities are looking for money.  Often our grant programmes get more applications than there is money to give, but we review them all equally,  and our work helps ensure that smaller local groups doing effective work don’t get overlooked

Our Current Grants

Explore our currently available grants below. Each opportunity includes information on eligibility, available funding and application deadlines, helping you quickly find the right grant for your organisation or project.

Grants Process

Applying for a grant with the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation follows a clear process designed to support you from application through to project delivery. The steps below will guide you through checking your eligibility, finding the right grant, submitting your application and supporting documents, the assessment and decision-making process, and what happens if your application is successful.

You’ll also find information on receiving your funding, delivering your project and reporting on the difference your funding has made within your community.

We will try to help with any questions: grants@llrcommunityfoundation.org.uk

Check your organisation meets the basic eligibility requirements, including appropriate governance, a constitution, organisational bank account, financial records and key policies.

Review the available grant opportunities listed above and check the eligibility criteria, funding available and application deadlines for each programme before applying.

Complete the relevant online application, explain how your organisation or project meets the criteria, and provide all requested supporting documents.

The Grants Team reviews your governance, finances, project need, suitability, delivery capacity, budget and planning, and may request further information.

Applications are considered by a grant panel or individual donor, depending on the fund. Decision timings vary between programmes.

You’ll receive the outcome by email. Successful applicants receive a Grant Agreement, promotional information and monitoring requirements. Feedback may be available if unsuccessful.

Return the signed Grant Agreement and meet any funding conditions. Payment is usually made within three weeks, after which you must confirm receipt.

Deliver your funded project, use the supplied fund logos where required, share updates where possible and contact the Foundation if problems arise.

Complete the end-of-grant monitoring form, showing how funds were spent and the impact achieved. Late monitoring may affect future applications.

Previously Awarded Grants

Every year, Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation delivers vital and essential grants that support other local charitable organisations to deliver vital services in the heart of our communities. These organisations range from household names to small local organisations you may never heard of, yet all of them are delivering their services to make local life better for all of us who live and work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We continue to administer grants on behalf of our donors. The donors direct their giving, and we manage the administration. We also give grants for agencies, the NHS, government, the National Emergencies Trust, and we reinvigorate dormant trusts.

Each year, we produce a summary of all the grants that have been given. Please feel free to have a look through at all of the projects that we have funded in this and previous years.
