The 125 Winter Fuel Fund gears up for 2011
Last year Paul and Sue, of Glenfield, came to us to set up a Fund for people to re-direct their Winter Fuel Allowances – £125 with Gift Aid.
They felt that for some older people the money is an essential boost to help with ever-increasing costs of keeping warm, but others feel they don’t need it. And their hunch proved right. Within weeks, the 125 Winter Fuel Fund raised £10,000 for local needs.
This year, it’s gone national, with many areas of the country following suit. But you can be sure that anything you give in Leicestershire and Rutland will spent here. Feedback showed Paul and Sue that people like to know where their money is going. So this is why this year they have identified two urgent local needs: Age UK Leicestershire and Rutland, and Rutland, and Leicester Royal Infirmary's Ourspace Appeal.

Charities host presentation evening
Leicestershire First and The Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation co-hosted a successful 2011 awards presentation evening at the Guildhall in Leicester.
Five winners of the Leicestershire First Awards were presented with their prizes. Read more about the awards and watch a video of all the prize-winners at the Leicestershire First website.
The evening also included a film made by Katy Green, our Director, with DMU film lecturer David Soden and film student Vicky White, celebrating the work of Leicestershire and Community Foundation. It offers an insight into the work of the foundation and the great results which come from the generosity and hard work of people in Leicestershire and Rutland.
