Welcome to Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Community Foundation
About us
We help people to change Leicestershire and Rutland for the better.
Local donors create their own, personally named funds with us - with as little as £1,000 or with £500,000 or more. Donors choose the name of their fund, and where its income will go.
Until 2011 we can double your money: the government will match donations £ for £!
We bring together all funds into a £multi-million, professionally managed Endowment Fund. We keep a track of every named fund, and give the income earned every year – in perpetuity.
We show donors a clear, current picture of local need – from large charities to the tiny local groups which really make a difference to the people around them. Or you may already have a good idea about where you want to see change.
We manage the legal and administrative side– reporting to the Charity Commission, claiming Gift Aid, ensuring money is spent effectively by bona fide groups and so on.
And we work to ensure that money is spent as intended, with an easily accessed but carefully checked and monitored giving system.
We give all year round, for public as well as personal funds, including emda (the East Midlands Development Agency) Comic Relief, and the Office of the Third Sector.
"It’s difficult to set up a family Foundation nowadays – finding Trustees and legal requirements and so on. The Community Foundation does the work: you’re giving direct to people who need it through your own family fund – but not spending a lot of time organising it yourself."
Sir Tim Brooks
